£3.1m Damages for Cerebral Palsy Girl
A 10-year-old girl has received £3.1million in clinical negligence compensation after injuries suffered at birth left her brain damaged.
Aimee Kirby of Milton Keynes, has severe cerebral palsy due to oxygen starvation that occurred in the final stages of her delivery at Northampton General Hospital in 1997 – she is unable to move and has visual problems.
At the High Court in London, Mr Justice Jack approved damages of £3.1 million against Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust, which will be paid out in a £1.2 million lump sum and “periodical payments” from then on, designed to fund Aimee’s care for as long as she lives.
Aimee’s lawyers successfully claimed that a delay in securing her delivery resulted in severe cerebral palsy and an inability to fend for herself.
